Stretching Workout

Today is a very special stretching and flexibility workout!  It is a follow-along video that I’ve put together for you.

Watch below:

Exercises done:

  1. Calf stretches
  2. Quad stretch
  3. Hamstring stretch (pike pose)
  4. Glute stretch
  5. Crossover/pretzel stretch
  6. Butterfly
  7. Frog
  8. Half pigeon pose
  9. Low lunge
  10. Iliopsoas stretch
  11. Splits
  12. Cobra pose

See my definitions and tips for each of these poses on my Flexibility Guide.

Notes and pointers:

  1. Make sure you’re warm!  Don’t do this without either doing a barre or strengthening beforehand.
  2. Feel free to pause and keep stretching if you need to.
  3. Don’t skip ahead without having held each pose for at least 15 seconds, or until the muscle you’re stretching feels loose.
  4. If you feel a pinching pain during any of these stretches or a bad pain, stop and don’t do the stretch again without talking to your parents, dance teacher, doctor, or physical therapist about the occurrence and problem.

  1. Nice job! A couple times you mentioned the background noise, but I didn’t hear it.
With the stretching, is breathing important to help with relaxing the muscles? It all reminded me of yoga, but with many more variations that I will try. Thank you.
